"Doping has no place in Baseball or Softball," said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation Integrity Unit has published an updated version of the WBSC Anti-Doping Educational Plan for the four-year period 2021-2024, in compliance with the 2021 WADA Code and the new International Standard for Education.

One of the main pillars of the plan is the WADA principle: “An athlete's first experience with anti-doping should be through education rather than doping control.”

The newly published 52-page plan is available for download here.

"Our education plan will serve to harmonise all the educational actions in the fight against doping," said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari. "The WBSC Academy will facilitate athletes, coaches, officials and National Federations to conduct efficient self-learning on anti-doping.

"Doping has no place in Baseball or Softball. Since I have been President, one of the main objectives for the World Baseball Softball Confederation has been to protect our clean athletes, and consequently protect the integrity of our events, ensuring they are played fair."

The main target group of the WBSC Anti-Doping Educational Plan includes athletes, coaches, medical professionals, administrators as well as parents. The WADA eLearning Platform ADEL (Anti-Doping Education and Learning Platform) will help raise awareness regarding prohibited substances, athlete’s rights and responsibilities, avoiding recreational drugs, taking care with food supplements and applying for a TUE.

Other activities include the activation of the World Antidoping Agency (WADA) educational tools on the WBSC Academy platform, the presence of outreach booths at WBSC events, and the management of webinars and the provision of updated information to stakeholders through WBSC.org.
