WBSC, Softball Asia stage umpire certification seminar in Korea

The course took place during the Women's Softball Asia Cup in Incheon. International umpire Mark Porteous (pictured above) acted as the primary instructor.

The WBSC and Softball Asia partnered to hold an umpire certification seminar during the Women's Softball Asia Cup in Incheon, Korea.

The WBSC named international umpire Mark Porteous as the primary instructor. Softball Asia designated Paulo Tabirara (Philippines) and Rosli Ismail (Malaysia).

Porteous umpired at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games after making the crew for the 2019 WBSC Men's Softball World Cup finals and the 2020 WBSC U-18 Men's Softball World Cup. He was named Softballer of the Year 2020 in New Zealand.

A total of 21 umpires, including four women, participared in the course. The instructor evaluated their work during the Asia Cup's games.

The participants in the seminar were: Cai Xie Qing, Xie Tao Rui, Xiao Xing, Meng Chi, Li Yun Xiao, Xu Yang, Wu Ying Bin (All from China); Au-Yeung Wai Hung (Hongkong); Cho Heeyoung, Eom Taegoo, Kim Hyungsuk, Lee Jongsoo, Nam Yoonsung, Oh Pilkyu, Fi Chunghee, Kim Sungbae, Park Gidong, Kim Tae Sub, Jeon EunHye, Song Kwang Moo (all Korea); Ahmad Masran Hassan (Singapore).
