WBSC World Cup alumni Kumar Rocker, Brady House, Andy Painter, Brandon Kinney selected in first round of MLB Draft 2021

The New York Mets selected Kumar Rocker 10th overall. The right-hander helped the United States win the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2017.

Six USA Baseball alumni were selected in the first round of the 2021 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft.

Right-handed pitcher Jack Leiter, the son of former MLB star Al Leiter, was selected by the Texas Rangers with second pick overall. Leiter helped the US win a gold medal at the U-18 Pan American Championship 2018, a qualifier for the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2019.

2019 US Collegiate National Team outfielder Colton Crowser was taken by the Baltimore Orioles with the fifth overall pick.

The New York Mets selected Kumar Rocker 10th overall. The right-hander helped the United States win the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2017.

The Washington Nationals selected Brady House 11th overall. The 18-year old infielder helped the United States win the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2015 and the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2018.

The Philadelphia Phillies had the 13th pick overall and selected right-hander Andy Painter, the pitcher who started for the US the finals of the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2018.

Cooper Kinney was the starting catcher for the US at the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2015. The Tampa Bay Rays selected the left-handed hitting catcher and third baseman with the 34th pick overall.

The MLB will continue on Monday, 12 July at 1 pm US Eastern Time.
