The Barracudas grabbed the first of the series with a 4-2 win over the Challengers, who had won 11 consecutive games to close the regular season on top of the standings. Corina Grass claimed the win for Barracudas.
Then the Challengers unleashed an 18-hit attack for a 16-1 victory over the defending champions to deadlock the series 1-1. Karen Heimgartner pitched five hitless innings and claimed the win.
In Game 3, the Challengers were leading 5-3 in the sixth inning. The Barracudas tied the game in the sixth with a pair of runs, and then in the top of the seventh took the lead with a 3-run rally to win the title. Grass picked up her second win of the series, pitching again the complete game.
Switzerland is the 33rd ranked nation in the WBSC Women’s Softball World Rankings, tied with Indonesia with 401 points.
