Lausanne. – With the anti-doping programme of the Federation of International Lacrosse (FILx), being officially declared compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on 8 April 2013, the 2009 revised Code (effective since 1 January 2009) compliance rate of the 91 SportAccord member International Federations (IFs) has now reached 100%. FILx is the most recent member of SportAccord.

Françoise Dagouret, Director SportAccord Doping-Free Sport Unit, said: “We are delighted about this achievement, especially when considering the vast progress made by SportAccord member IFs since November 2010 when a first interim compliance status of Code Signatories was presented by WADA. At that time, 51% of the Olympic, 6% of the IOC-Recognised, and 4% of the Alliance of Independent Members of SportAccord (AIMS) IFs had a fully compliant programme in place. For many of the IFs, the SportAccord DFSU has played a key role accompanying them towards Code compliance, through an excellent cooperation spirit with both the IFs anti-doping officers and WADA.”

“This being said, our mission is still on-going as we continue to assist our members to maintain such level of compliance. In addition, we now look towards the future, with the Code revision process on-going, and a new Code being effective as of January 2015. In this forthcoming exercise, the focus of the WADA monitoring process will be not only on the implementation of all mandatory requirements, but on the implementation of quality programmes and best practice. Building on our achievements with the current Code, we believe that our Doping-Free Sport Unit is naturally well placed to fulfil this forthcoming compliance mission and is looking forward to continuing the successful partnership at the service of its members.”
