WBSC Europe announces event sanctioning procedure

All events involving at least one National Team require sanctioning. Only sanctioned events are eligible to generate WBSC World Ranking points.

WBSC Europe announced that any event involving a national team, either two national teams competing against each other or a national team playing a club team, would require the Continental Association's sanctioning.

The National Federation hosting the event has the responsibility to submit a request to WBSC Europe (sanctioning@wbsceurope.org) or the WBSC headquarters (sanctioning@wbsc.org).

"The new process is designed to ensure that all international competitions in Europe meet the standards set by the WBSC and WBSC Europe. This will help to ensure a level playing field for all teams involved," stated the organisation in a press release.

The host National Federation shall file a sanctioning application before the start of the event. It is mandatory to submit a report within 72 hours after the last game of the event.

Sanctioned events generate WBSC World Rankings points for the National Federations involved.

WBSC regulations delegate the sanctioning of continental events to the Continental Associations, therefore only events involving national teams from different continents require a WBSC sanction.
