Netherlands to host Women's Softball European Championship 2024 in September

The biggest softball event in Europe will be played from 1 to 7 September, 2024.

WBSC Europe has announced that Utrecht, the Netherlands, will host the next edition of the Women's Softball European Championship. The biggest softball event in Europe will be played from 1 to 7 September, 2024.

This will be the second high-profile women's softball event next summer on the continent, with the WBSC Women's Softball World Cup Finals being staged in Italy from 15 to 20 July.

The Women's Softball European Championship will be staged at the UVV softball complex, along with the Domstad Dodgers Ballpark, the Nieuwegein Diamonds and the Centrals/Wombats in De Bilt fields. Around 20 teams are expected to participate in the Women's Softball European Championship 2024.

Utrecht hosted the WBSC Softball Olympic Qualifier in 2019, where Italy clinched their ticket to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The Dutch squad will defend their title on home soil. Netherlands defeated Great Britain, 7-0, in the final game of the European Championship 2022 played in Barcelona, Spain.

For the second consecutive year, Europe will serve as the primary destination for women's softball fans.

In 2023, the Group Stage of the WBSC Women's Softball World Cup took place entirely on European soil, with Ireland, Spain, and Italy each hosting a group.

In 2024, the WBSC Women's Softball World Cup Finals and the European Championship will be staged two months apart, with the first one scheduled for July and the second one for September.
