Record 164 USA Baseball National Team alumni feature on MLB opening day rosters

Eight of these players were on the US roster at the 2019 WBSC Premier12. The Cincinnati Reds lead all teams with 11 US National Team alumni.

USA Baseball announced that 29 of the 30 Major League Baseball (MLB) clubs featured at least one US National Team alumnus on their opening day rosters. Additionally, 20 of those clubs feature five or more players who have played on USA Baseball National Teams.

The total number of USA Baseball alumni on MLB opening day rosters is 164. It includes first baseman Bobby Dalbec and right-handed pitcher Tanner Houck (Boston Red Sox); outfielder Mark Payton (Cincinnati Reds); right-handed pitchers Jon Feyereisen (Milwaukee Brewers), Caleb Thielbar (Minnesota Twins), Cody Ponce (Pittsburgh Pirates); infielders Alec Bohm (Philadelphia Phillies), Jake Cronenworth (San Diego Padres), who were on the US roster at the WBSC Premier12 2019

The Cincinnati Reds lead all teams with 11 alums, followed by the Washington Nationals with nine. The Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers have eight each.

Six additional USA Baseball alumni are managing MLB teams, including Aaron Boone (New York Yankees), Terry Francona (Cleveland Indians), Joe Girardi (Philadelphia Phillies), Dave Roberts (Los Angeles Dodgers), David Ross (Chicago Cubs) and Scott Servais (Seattle Mariners).

The USA Baseball Men's National Team will be looking to earn a ticket to the Tokyo Olympics at the upcoming WBSC Baseball Americas Qualifier in Florida this June.
