The Venezuela Baseball Federation has confirmed Carlos Subero as the manager of the Baseball National Team for the WBSC Baseball America's Qualifier, which is due to be held in Arizona, USA from March 22-26 next year.

Carlos Subero was first appointed Venezuela coach for the WBSC Premier12 in November.

The coaching staff that will assist Subero includes bench coach Carlos Garcia, pitching coach Darwin Marrero, batting coach Jobel Jimenez, third base coach Liu Rodriguez, first base coach Wilfredo Romero.

World No. 9 Venezuela will compete in Group B at the America's Qualifier together with world No. 5 Cuba, Canada, ranked 10th in the world, and world No. 14 Colombia. The top two finishers will advance to the Super Round together with the top two finishers of Group A, which features world No. 2 USA, world No. 11 Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, who is ranked 12th in the world, and world No. 15 Nicaragua.

The winner will book a spot at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The runner up and third-placed team will participate in the WBSC Baseball Final Qualifier, which will offer another ticket to Tokyo 2020.

Subero's Venezuela finished the WBSC Premier12 in seventh place, sharing the position with Canada and the Dominican Republic. Venezuela earned a win against Puerto Rico but lost against Japan and Chinese Taipei and was eliminated after round robin play.
