Finnish Baseball legends from the 80s return to the field

Finland's baseball legends from the 1980s suited up again to challenge a Division II All-Star squad.

Finnish Baseball values its roots and wants the pioneers of the sport to contribute in some capacity. Once the Finnish ballplayer hangs up his spikes, the federation is hoping the retiree stays in the game as an umpire, coach, board members or even as a sponsor.

This is the reason why the Finnish Baseball and Softball Federation organized a challenge between the National Baseball Legends and a Division II All-Star squad.

The doubleheader was played in late August and an official note by the federation states that "it was full of fun" and the legends from the 1980s "showed some real nice hitting" even if "pitching, running and fielding may not have been at the same level".
