Ohtani wins 'Edgar Martinez' Outstanding Designated Hitter Award
It's the third award for the two-way phenom after American League MVP and Silver Slugger. Ohtani was also selected for the All-Star Game as pitcher and hitter and featured on All-MLB First and Second Team.
Shohei Ohtani has collected one more award. Major League Baseball (MLB) voted the inaugural WBSC Premier12 superstar the winner of the 2021 Edgar Martinez Outstanding Designated Hitter (DH) Award.
The two-way phenom became the first player in history awarded the MVP and the best DH during the same season.
Ohtani played 126 games as a DH for the Los Angeles Angels. He posted a .258 batting average (.373 on base percentage), with 122 hits, including 43 home runs, 8 triples and 20 doubles. Ohtani scored 92 runs and batted in 91.
