WBSC eBASEBALL™ Series 2023 World Finals: SHORA crowned World Champion

With the victory, SHORA earned the first berth in the first-ever ePremier12™ tournament coming up later this year, which is the grand finale to the WBSC eBASEBALL™ Series 2024, where he will be defending champion.

LAUSANNE, Switzerland — eBASEBALL™ super star SHORA was crowned as the inaugural WBSC eBASEBALL™ Series World Champion after beating compatriot Fujito in the first-ever WBSC eBASEBALL™ Series World Finals in front of a fantastic crowd at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland on Saturday, March 9.

SHORA, who has also won the eBASEBALL™ tournaments at the first ever Olympic Virtual Series and Olympic Esports Series in 2021 and 2023 respectively, proved too good for compatriot fujito in an epic championship game by a final score line of 8-1.

"I'm very proud and happy to be the first ever WBSC eBASEBALL™ world champion," SHORA said. "I'm happy with how I played and of course the result. "[As champion with an automatic spot in the WBSC ePremier12™] I look forward to all the competitive players from around and the world coming to Japan and welcoming you all in November."

SHORA made it to the final by taking a 3-0 record into the championship match after beating yabeGaming in a superb walk off 3-1 win, Hazuremon 6-4 and a 7-0 win over fujito in the Group Stage. Fujito, meanwhile reached the final with a 2-1 record, having beaten Hazuremon (2-0) and yabeGaming (5-0) in Group Stage play.

With the victory, SHORA received a medal, a digital trophy and the world champion trophy as well as earning the first berth in the first-ever ePremier12™ tournament coming up later this year, which is the grand finale to the WBSC eBASEBALL™ Series 2024, where he will be defending champion.

Meanwhile, Hazuremon finished third in the competition after beating yabeGaming by a final score of 2-1.

YabeGaming, the youngest competitor in the tournament, made it to the third place game by posting a 1-2 win-loss record in the group stage, while Hazuremon, the oldest player, advanced with a 0-3 group stage record.

There’s not long to wait for eBASEBALL™ fans and players with the 2024 season of the WBSC eBASEBALL™ Series already starting on April 1st towards the World Finals - aka the ePremier12™ - next November.
