After long consideration and looking at the development of the COVID-19, WBSC Europe today cancelled the U-15 Women's European Softball Championship.
The youth softball continental tournament was initially planned for July 13-18 in Enschede, Netherlands. It was then postponed to the last week of August, before being outright cancelled.
The continental body will stage the U-15 Women’s Championship in 2022, as a qualifier for the 2023 WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup. The first option for hosting the event will be given to the city of Enschede and the Netherlands Baseball Softball Federation.
"The U-15 Women's European Championship is a key event...being the chance for many girls to represent their countries for the first time," said WBSC Europe Co-President Gabriel Waage.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, earlier this month the men and women's European Championships were postponed to 2021.
