The Road to Tokyo 2020 has begun. Today the XVI WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship was officially declared open in Chiba, and from now 16 teams from five continents will try to earn the first berth in the Olympic Games.

It’s the common feeling expressed by team representatives during the press conference in Chiba. The tournament opens on Thursday, August 2, with a match between the hosts Japan and Italy

Japan, Canada and Australia are the main contenders to make the playoffs in this group, but Italy, China, Great Britain, Venezuela and Botswana will defy them trying to clinch a berth in the playoffs.
