USA open camp for WBSC Americas U-12 Baseball World Cup Qualifier

USA Baseball revealed that 24 players will participate in the U-12 National Team selection camp from 13 to 15 May in Flower Mound, Texas. Following the conclusion of the Camp, U-12 National Team manager David Sharp will announce the 18-player roster for the WBSC Americas U-12 Baseball World Cup Qualifier, scheduled from 19 to 28 May in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

The roster includes 11 players who participated in the 2022 U-11 National Team Identification Series (NTIS) Champions Cup in Cary, North Carolina. The NTIS is the most comprehensive player identification programme offered by USA Baseball, utilizing a six-region system to find the best amateur players throughout the nation.

The camp will feature three days of intrasquad games, on-field workouts, and more.

"We feel confident that the roster we assembled is full of high-character and talented individuals," said Cole Beeker, USA Baseball’s U-12 National Team Director. "Our coaching staff has done extensive work to find the best 24 players to compete for a spot on the final roster."

Sharp's coaching staff will include Mark Lunch McKenzie, Jason Sekany and Roger Wright.

At the WBSC Americas U-12 Baseball World Cup Qualifier, World No. 2 and U-12 defending World Champions United States will face No. 3 Mexico, No. 6 Venezuela, No. 7 Cuba, No. 10 Dominican Republic, No. 11 Puerto Rico, No. 14 Panama, No. 15 Colombia and No. 24 Brazil.

The top four finishers will advance to the VII WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup, scheduled from 28 July to 6 August in Tainan, Taiwan.
