Vojtech Forman and Marek Maly smash two-run homers as Czech Republic beat South Africa

Marek Maly and Vojtech Forman opened and closed the game with two-run homers in Czech Republic's victory over South Africa on Friday. Forman closed out the game with a home run for the second time in two games, following Thursday's victory over Denmark.

Marek Maly opened the scoring with a two-run home run, while Vojtech Forman hit a fifth inning two-run homer to close out the 10-3 victory of the Czech Republic over South Africa on Friday in the Placement Round of the XVII WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup in Rosedale Park.

Forman recorded two runs, two hits and four RBIs, while his teammate Maly logged three runs, two hits and two RBIs.

Maly initiated the scoring of Czech Republic with two runs after Tomas Klein singled to left field. He complimented it with a homer to deep left centre to put the European side ahead in the first inning 2-0.

South Africa and Czech Republic each scored three runs in the second inning. Mogau Thupudi, Alistair Veale and Tyrone Milne scoring the runs for South Africa, while Lukas Kubat, Marek Volf and Forman completed the runs for a 5-3 lead for the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic extended their lead to 6-3 in the third inning, as Maly made a run to the home plate after a throwing error.

Maly scored another run as George Harris singled to left field. Harris then stole second base before scoring the run on a wild pitch, moving Marek Volf into a scoring position. Volf later on reached home plate when Forman homered to deep left centre to close the game in the fifth inning at 10-3.

The Czech Republic moves to 3-1, tied with Japan and New Zealand who play later today while South Africa keeps them at 1-3 with one more game left on Saturday against the Philippines who play Denmark on Friday.
