John Short was stellar today on both sides of the game, and Andrew Costello hit a three-run homer leading USA to a 29-0 win over South Africa in Day 1 of the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup. Short pitched four scoreless innings of one-hit ball, and collected four RBIs in the game.
All USA at bats ended in big innings for the defending U-15 world champions, including a 10-run rally in the third frame and an eight-run fourth inning.
South Africa used eight pitchers in the game, but they could do nothing against the powerful US lineup.
