Cuba edges Chinese Taipei to advance to Super Round with 1-0 record

Both teams had already qualified for the next round, but the game decided the winner of the group, and subsequently which of the two teams would start the Super Round with an unbeaten record.

In a game that closed Group A and counted toward the Super Round standings, Cuba defeated Chinese Taipei, 3-2, in the V WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2022. 

Both teams had already qualified for the next round, but the game decided the winner of the group, and subsequently which of the two teams would start the Super Round with an unbeaten record.

With the game tied at one, an RBI double by Jonathan Valle gave Cuba the lead, and Segian Perez brought in an insurance run. Roberto Peña went 3-for-4 and scored a run to lead an eight-hit Cuba attack. 

The winner of the game was reliever Daniel Reyes who pitched 2.2 innings, surrendering just one run on two hits. Mailon Batista was credited with the two-inning save. The loss was charged to Ruei Cyuan. 

Cuba moves to the Super Round with a 1-0 record, for the victory against a team qualified into the Super Round, while Chinese Taipei will carry the loss to Cuba into the next round and will start with a 0-1 record.
