Puerto Rico advances to Super Round with 13-0, five inning win against Guam

With this win, Puerto Rico finished in second place in Group C, behind USA, and qualified for the Super Round. Guam (1-3) ended in third place.

Will Soto produced three RBI and scored three runs to lead Puerto Rico to a 13-0, five-inning victory against Guam and sent his team to the Super Round of the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup. Puerto Rico advances in the main tournament as second place in Group C, and will open the Super Round with a 0-1 record.

Soto led a 10-hit attack, while Dylan Rivera helped with two hits and three runs. Juliomar Campos (2-for-3) also had a multi-hit game.

Alian Martinez tossed three perfect innings to start the game for Puerto Rico, and Frank Rodriguez followed with one inning with two walks and two strikeouts. Enrico Carrion gave up a leadoff single in the fifth, and then struck out the next three batters to close the game. Guam’s only hit came off the bat of Ean Lizama.

With the win, Puerto Rico will join Chinese Taipei, Cuba, and USA as the first four squads qualifed into the six-team Super Round.
