V WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup - Day 3: Japan, Puerto Rico, USA undefeated; Chinese Taipei, Cuba first to clinch Super Round spots

USA defeated Guam 13-1; Puerto Rico beat South Africa, 17-1; Chinese Taipei earned their second win of the tournament against Czechia, while Japan topped France.

The WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup has its first two qualified teams for the Super Round, with Cuba (2-0) and Chinese Taipei (2-0) securing the first two spots out of Group A. USA (3-0) and Puerto Rico (2-0) lead Group C, while Japan (2-0) sits on top of Group B, as teams look to advance to the next phase of the tournament.

USA is one step closer to securing a spot in the Super Round after a five-inning, 13-1 victory over Guam. Ryan Mitchell produced four runs and scored twice.

A 10-run fifth inning secured the win for Puerto Rico over South Africa, 17-1. Isaac Carrasquillo led a 16-hit offense for the Puerto Ricans. In their first WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup appearance, Puerto Rico is showcasing the island's young baseball talent.

Tien-Szu Huang tossed 5.1 innings in relief, giving up three hits, one run and two walks, in Chinese Taipei's 7-2 win over Czechia. The win secures a spot in the Super Round for Cuba and Chinese Taipei, who will face each other on Tuesday.

Japan defeated France, 10-0, in six innings to close Day 3 action. Japan scored in five of the six innings of play.

Bottom 6th - JPN 10-0 FRA: A sacrifice fly by Ryuto Miyaguchi ends the game in the sixth inning. Japan wins 10-0.

Bottom 5th - JPN 8-0 FRA: Ryuto Miyaguchi and Haruto Kashiwazaki hit RBI singles in a three-run rally for Japan

Bottom 4th - JPN 5-0 FRA: Japan adds three more, on a wild pitch and a two-run single off the bat of Riku Tsuchiya

Bottom 3rd - JPN 2-0 FRA: Japan scores one more. Fujita stole third base and took advantage of a bad throw to score the second Japanese run.

Bottom 1st - JPN 1-0 FRA: Japan scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning, after a throwing error by French third baseman Maxendre Proust. The run was scored by Kazuha Fujita, who led off the game with an infield hit.

Chinese Taipei 7-2 Czechia

In the top of the seventh, Chinese Taipei scored four runs, on a sacrifice fly and a costly defensive error. Chinese Taipei wins the game 7-2.

Bottom 2nd - TPE 3-2 CZE - Czechia makes it a one-run ballgame! Max Prejda lined to center field to bring in their second run of the game.

After one inning, Chinese Taipei leads 3-1. Chun-Chih Fu hit an RBI double, while Tien-Szu Huang and Ruei Cyuan scored on wild pitches. Czechia scored one, on a run-scoring single by Nikolas Hluchy.

Puerto Rico 17-1 South Africa

Top 5th - PUR 17-1 RSA: Puerto Rico explodes with 10 runs and six hits to end the game.

Bottom 4th - PUR 7-1 RSA: Puerto Rico scores two. Isaac Carrasquillo hits an RBI triple, and scores on a double off the bat of Juliomar Campos.

Bottom 3rd - PUR 5-1 RSA: Joshua Botha scores from third on a grounder to shortstop by Imaad Hassiem. South Africa is on the board.

Top 3rd - PUR 5-0 RSA: Puerto Rico extends their lead to 5-0, taking advantage of a South Africa error and an RBI double by Enrico Carrion.

Top 2nd - PUR 3-0 RSA: Puerto Rico is on the scoreboard with a two-run single off the bat of Angel Vazquez, who then scores on a squeeze play.

USA 13-1 Guam

The US team scored four times in the fifth frame, and extends the lead to 13-0. In the bottom of the fifth, Guam scored one with a hit and a pair of walks. The game ends 13-1.

Top 1st - USA 4-0 Guam: USA scores four times in the top of the first, on an RBI double by John Short and three wild pitches.
