Austrian Softball League down to four teams, finals to be played on 12 September

Vienna Wanderers, Wiener Neustadt Crazy Chicklets, Sharx and Witches Linz will battle for the Austrian title in a double elimination playoff bracket.

The Austrian Softball League will crown the national champions this weekend, with a four-team playoff starting tomorrow (Friday, 11 September) at Vienna's Ballpark Spenadlwiese, in the heart of Vienna.  The Sharx will play Vienna Wanderers, while Witches Linz will face the Wiener Neustadt Crazy Chicklets to open the double-elimination playoff bracket. The finale will be played on Saturday 12 September at 18:00 hours.

The Austrian Softball League season, which started in July due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was played in two regional divisions, to minimize traveling. The winner and the runner-up of each division will now play for the title.

The East Division was dominated by the Vienna Wanderers and the Wiener Neustadt Crazy Chicklets. The two were also the finalists of last year’s championship, with the Wanderers walking away with the title.

Witches Linz, who ended the regular season undefeated in the West Division, advanced along with the Sharx, the second-place team in the division.

The Austria's National Softball Championship can be followed via the league's website.
