Baseball5 Coaching Clinic for West Africa held in Nigeria

Instructors Chedli Mokrani and Daniel Yaw Atiemo ran a course for 29 coaches. It's the second of four Baseball5 Coaching Clinics launched by the WBSC, WBSC Africa and Olympic Solidarity targeting the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics.

Abuja, Nigeria, hosted from 11 to 15 December the second of four Baseball5 Coaching Clinics launched by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), WBSC Africa and Olympic Solidarity to support the growth of the five-on-five version of baseball/softball in the continent hosting the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar.

The Nigeria Baseball & Softball Association hosted 29 coaches (three from the Republic of Benin, two from Togo and 24 from Nigeria) at the National Stadium in Abuja.

WBSC instructors Chedli Mokrani and Daniel Yaw Atiemo ran the course, which included classes and on-field practice.

"The instructors captured the attention of all the participants," commented WBSC Africa in a press release.

At the end of the clinic all participants passed a test.

The first clinic occurred in Nairobi, Kenya, from 1 to 3 December and involved 13 coaches from East Africa.

The other two seminars are scheduled for early 2024 and will be directed to coaches from Northern and Southern Africa.
