Former professional baseball player and WBSC Athletes Commission member Randolph Oduber will lead a Clean Sport Education Webinar, which is exclusively dedicated to Baseball, Softball, and Baseball5 athletes, at 2 pm Central European Summer Time on Tuesday, 28 May.
Held in conjunction with experts from the International Testing Agency (ITA), the webinar will focus on educating the attending athletes on their responsibilities when it comes to anti-doping and ensuring that sport remains clean.
The WBSC is committed to an independent, expert-led, clean sports programme for its athletes and has collaborated with the ITA since 2020, with the agreement renewed and extended the agreement in 2022.
Oduber (35) is an ITA Education Ambassador and the ex-Netherlands international recently spoke about the webinar during the inaugural WBSC Athletes Summit and emphasised the need to educate athletes and their coaches on the anti-doping rules.
He said: "We want to share all the knowledge about the rights and responsibilities of our athletes and athlete support personnel and what happens when an athlete is chosen for testing.
"Many athletes, especially at the
youth level, don't know which supplements are good to take or which is the best
food for them. I think it's essential for all the athletes to be able to join
us on this webinar to learn."
"We are there to answer all the
possible questions about anti-doping.”
The seminar will be held at 14:00 (CEST) on
Tuesday, 28 May 2024 and will be conducted in English with simultaneous
translations to French and Spanish.,
Athletes interested in participating must REGISTER VIA THE ZOOM PLATFORM, while the webinar will have a Q&A section and all attendees will receive a PDF of the webinar presentation, including links to the resources covered.
