XXVIII Italian Blind Baseball League to open on 16 March

The 11-team league, which includes first-year squads in Messina and Bergamo, will be contested with a single round-robin. The top four finishers will advance to the postseason. Fortitudo Bologna White Sox are the three-time defending champions.

The 11-team Italian Blind Baseball League (LIBCI) is set to open its 2024 season on Saturday, 16 March, in Sardinia and Sicily, the two major Italian islands.

Iglesias, 50 kilometres from Sardinia's capital, Cagliari, will host Thurpos Cagliari-Leonessa Brescia.

The first-year Messina University team, Unime, will play Thunder's Five Milano in Messina, the closest city to the Italian peninsula.

The rest of the programme will develop on Sunday, 17 March and include the rematch of the 2023 final between Fortitudo Bologna White Sox and Hurricane Varese.

The other first-year team, Blind Karalis Bergamo, will host Lampi Milano, while Blind Fighters will travel to Rome to face the Roma All Blinds.

After playing a nine-team 2023 season, LIBCI saw the Umbria Redskins withdraw but welcomed back Blind Fighters and added Unime and Blind Karalis.

The format of LIBCI's 28th edition will be a single round-robin. The top four finishers will advance to the postseason, consisting of the semifinals and the final.

The Fortitudo Bologna White Sox are the three-time defending champions.
