KOY wins WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS CTBA OPEN at WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup

In another historic moment for the World Baseball Softball Confederation, a WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS took place on the sidelines of the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in Taichung (TPE). 

While it was raining at Taichung Intercontinental Stadium, the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association (CTBA) eBASEBALL™ OPEN game of WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER. Li Zechao(KOY) hit a walk-off homerun, beating Chia-Ming Wang (CMWANG) and earning the qualification to compete at Tokyo Game Show 2023 starting on September 21, 2023.

The CTBA eBASEBALL™ OPEN featured CMWANG, the third-place winner of the first Olympic Esports Series that took place in Singapore in June, and KOY, the immediate champion of the CTBA Open. The game consisted of four innings, and if both players earn same runs after four innings, the one with more hits wins. 

In the top of the second, CMWANG got hit by a pitch, and hit two singles to earn the first run of the game, leading 1-0.

In the bottom of the second, KOY hit a solo homer deep into right field, tying the game at one.
Just before the game was going to end with a tie, KOY hit a walk-off homerun to finish the game, 2-1, not only winning the game, but also the opportunity to play at Tokyo Game Show 2023.

“We play with each other very often.” CMWANG said. “He knows my tactics well, but even though I lost, I’m still happy playing against him.”

KOY considered himself lucky at picking the pitches and timing to hit two homers.
“CM Wang’s good at fast straight pitches,” KOY said. “so I presented my lineup with half power batters and half base runners, and it seems like a right strategy.”

WBSC eBASEBALL™: POWER PROS is the latest title in the POWERFUL PUROYAKYU series, a Japanese baseball video game series created by Konami Digital Entertainment (KONAMI), which has a long history.Launched in 1994, the title will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year.

KOY has played POWERFUL PUROYAKYU series for 15 years, and CMWANG has played for more than 25 years. They both recommended this game for baseball aficionados.

“There are different modes.” CMWANG said. “Even if you don’t like competing with others, you can still have fun with it.”
