Mexico strengthens Baseball5 growth with sports promoters course

The host nation of the inaugural WBSC Baseball5 World Cup is investing in educating new coaches.

After hosting a successful maiden edition of the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup, Mexico is trying to accelerate the growth of the five-on-five version of baseball/softball across the country with a course for sports promoters from the Municipal Institute of Sports and Physical Culture of Mexicali (IMDECUF), held by the National Commission for Sports and Physical Culture (CONADE).

Rubén Darío Bahena Robles, a certified WBSC instructor and a game official at the inaugural Baseball5 World Cup, held the course at the Hidalgo Sports Unit in Mexicali. Participants followed a class on the rules and then took the field for practical lessons. They were all tested at the end of the course and received a Baseball5 coach licence.

Valerio Camargo, director of IMDECUF, said that Baseball5 aligns with the plan to engage the community in more physical activity.
