Puerto Rican Superior Double-A Women's Baseball League: Defending champions Lobas de Arecibo dominate opener

The two-time defending champions, led my new manager Diamilette Quiles, swept Ladies de Guánica, 9-0 and 15-3. Eight teams participate in the 14th edition of the league.

The defending champions Lobas de Arecibo swept the Ladies de Guánica at the Ramón Cabañas Stadium in Utuado to open the 2023 Puerto Rican Superior Double-A Women's Baseball League.

Lobas dominated the two games. Zoe Collazo pitched a no-hitter, leading the two-time defending champions to a 9-0 win in game one.

Arecibo outscored Guanica, 15-3 to also win the second game.

Former WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup star Diamilette Quiles, the first woman to compete and coach in the men's Double-A League, is the 2023 Lobas manager.

Eight clubs feature in the 14th edition of Puerto Rico's Superior Double-A Women's Baseball League.

Estrellas del Guamaní de Guayama moved to Ponce. The other participants are Petroleras de Peñuelas, Poetas de Juana Diaz, Cafeteras de Yauco, Maceteras de Vega Alta and the 2022 runner-up Artesanas de Las Piedras.

After a 14-game regular season, the top four teams will advance to the semifinals. Both the semifinals and the final series will be best-of-five.

Lobas have won 11 of the 13 titles.

The season is dedicated to Carlos Manuel Turpò Hernandez, one of the leading advocates of women's baseball in Puerto Rico.

The Puerto Rico national women's baseball team will participate in the IX Women's Baseball World Cup 2023 - Group B | presented by CARNEXT, which takes place in Miyoshi City, Japan from 13-17 September.
