VII WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup-Day 2: Chinese Taipei walk off Japan in front of impressive crowd

The Asian arch-rivals showcased world-class baseball. The game ended on an infield hit by Sheng-Rang Wang. Venezuela's Willy Rodriguez no-hit Mexico. The United States scored 43 runs in four at-bats.

Day 2 of the VII WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup had an unforgettable ending. After a world-class game, Chinese Taipei walked off arch-rivals Japan in front of an impressive crowd.

Venezuela's pitcher Willy Rodriguez highlighted the afternoon by throwing a no-hitter and going 3-for-4 against Mexico. In the morning, the United States scored 43 runs in four at-bats.
Germany shocked Australia, providing the only surprising result.

Chinese Taipei-Japan 3-2

At the end of a world-class game, Chinese Taipei used aggressive base running and a walk-off infield hit to win,

Japan took the lead in the top of the second. With runners at the corners and two outs, a swinging bunt by right fielder Masya Yabuuchi scored Kengo Wada from third.

Chinse Taipei came right back and tied the game on back-to-back hits by Yu-Hsiang Wang and Shang Eng Wang. Center fielder Mei Oguri manufactured a double play to get starter Sasuke Mizuno out of a jam.

Japan got the lead back in the top of the seventh. Reliever Ya-En Chiu balked to advance the tie-break runners. Kengo Wada scored from third on a groundout.

Chinese Taipei came back to win it. One out, Yu-Hsiang Wang dropped a bunt. Sheng-Kai Gau ran all the way from second to home to tie the game. Sheng-Rang Wang hit a soft pop to shortstop to walk it off.

Dominican Republic-Czechia 19-0

Czech pitchers proved too wild and the Dominican Republic thrived on nine walks to end the game in four innings.

Starter Frantisek Friser could get just one out for Czechia. He left afyer allowing four runs and four walks, that the Dominican Republic turned into eight runs, seven earned.

Reliever Adam Cacek got out of the inning, but could get just one out in the second. He left after allowing six runs on five hits and three walks. As Lukas Cermak took the mound, the game was out of reach for Czechia.

Germany-Australia 7-3

Germany took advantage of nine walks and needed only five hits to score seven runs and earn their first win.

Germany took the lead in the bottom of the first thanks to three consecutive walks allowed by Australian starter Archer Petersen. Right fielder Cooper Hegen made it 3-0 with an RBI single.

They capitalized on three more walks in the bottom of the fourth. An infield single by Keylen Fernandez and a grounder by Thomas Hopfensperger proved enough to extend the lead to 7-0.

Australia got to German starter Felipe Morales only in the sixth, too late to complete a comeback.

Venezuela-Mexico 10-0

Venezuela played an almost perfect game behind a no-hitter by Willy Rodriguez, who allowed only one walk over six innings while striking out six and outscored Mexico. Rodriguez himself had a three-hit game.

Venezuela got to Mexico's starter Geronimo Perez with an RBI double by second baseman Alexandro Ladera and a two-RBI single by pitcher Willy Rodriguez to take a 3-0 lead.

They added a run in the top of the fourth. Catcher Abel Granadillo scored on a double by right fielder Xavier Cafre and a passed ball.

It took two relievers, Alan Dominguez and Roberto Garza, for Mexico to take to and end the sixth Venezuelan at-bat, which resulted in five runs scored.

Korea-Panama 11-3

Korea used a six-run third at-bat to break the score open against a Panama side that couldn't stay in the game because of four defensive errors.

Sangmeong Yang led off with a single against starter Javier Acevedo, stole third and scored the game's first run on a ground out.

Korea thrived on a couple of walks by Acevedo and an error and broke the score open in the top of the second. Yang, designated hitter Uijeong Lee and right fielder Taewoong Yoon singled, and Korea scored six before reliever Algis Palacios could end the at-bat.

USA-New Zealand 43-1

World No. 2 USA had 24 hits, including five home runs on their way to a four-inning win against No. 45 New Zealand.

Bryant Ju and Leyland Henry singled off Andi Li and the US took full advantage of a defensive error, a walk and a hit-by-pitch to score three in their first at-bat.

The US broke the score open in the top of the second with five hits, including a solo home run by right fielder Tyler Early and a three-run monster shot by first-baseman Leyland Henry. The US would add three homers.
