WBSC Softball Hall of Famer Diana Duarte among 100 most powerful women in Central America

The former third baseman was named in the WBSC Softball Hall of Fame in 2017, becoming the first Guatemalan female player or official to be inducted.

WBSC Softball Hall of Fame member Diana Duarte was included by Forbes in Central America’s 100 most powerful women list. In all, nine sportswomen are included.

The list include role models in areas like industry, science, medicine, gastronomy, activism and sports. According to Forbes, all women in the list have something in common: they prove that you can always go further.

In 2018, WBSC Secretary General Beng Choo Low was included in the inaugural list of the 25 Most Powerful Women in International Sports. Baseball/Softball ranked 2nd overall with four women on this Forbes’ power list.

Duarte played international softball for more than 18 years, including the WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship 1978 in El Salvador and three Central American Games. She also served as the Guatemalan Women’s Softball National Team head coach. Currently she works as an arts teacher.
