Baseball5 showcase at Arnold Sport Festival in South Africa enjoys big success

Members of the South African National Team, the current/first-ever African Baseball5 champions, introduced 70 kids to the five-on-five version of baseball/softball.

Members of the South African National Team, which recently won the first-ever Baseball5 African Championship, led a Baseball5 event at the Arnold Classic Sports Festival at the Ruimsig Stadium in Roodepoort, in the Johannesburg municipality. The South African Baseball Union supported the event.

Five coaches worked with over 70 kids from the Gauteng province. The event resulted in massive success, with positive feedback from the players and the spectators, South African baseball and softball officials say.

Actor and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger created the multi-sport event in 2016. Baseball5 was introduced in the 2018 edition.

After experiencing the challenges of the COVID-19 restrictions during the 2020 and 2021 editions, Schwarzenegger and his partners held the 2022 edition in a brand new Tent City.

The Arnold Classic Sports Festival Africa grew around the Arnold Classic, a body building competition that involves participants from 80 countries in the world.
