Final series of Puerto Rico Women's Baseball League opens 28 November: Artesanas de Las Piedras vs Lobas de Arecibo

The best-of-five championship series opens on Sunday, 28 November.

The defending champions Artesanas de Las Piedras and the Lobas de Arecibo will compete for the national women's baseball title in Puerto Rico.

The Lobas qualified first, as they swept Maceteras Vega Alta in a best-of-three semifinal, 6-0 and 12-0. Janiliz Rivera (pictured above), Zoé Collazo and rookie Danna Gonzalez dominated on the mound.

The Artesanas had a tougher semifinal. The Poetas Juana Diaz, led by six solid innings by lefty Daymaralys Hernandez, won the first game, 5-1. Angelis Rivera, one of the top pitchers in the league, guided the Artesanas to a 4-1 win in game two. The Artesanas shut out Poetas in the rubber match on 21 November, 5-0. Rivera had another stellar outing, going the distance and allowing only one hit.

The best-of-five final series opens on Sunday, 28 November in Arecibo.
