Japan's Hirozaku Sawamura reportedly negotiating MLB contract

Sawamura was part of Japan's National Team that earned a bronze medal in the inaugural WBSC Premier12 in 2015.

Veteran Samurai Japan right-handed pitcher Hirozaku Sawamura is reportedly in the United States to negotiate with an undisclosed Major League Baseball (MLB) club.

The 33-year old was a number one draft pick for the Tokyo Yomiuri Giants of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). He earned Rookie of the Year honours in 2011 as a starting pitcher. He later was converted into a top closer and earned as many as 36 saves in 2015 and 37 in 2016. He spent the final part of the 2020 season with the Chiba Lotte Marines.

Sawamura represented Japan internationally at the World Baseball Classic 2013 and the WBSC Premier12 2015.
