V WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup - Day 2: USA walks it off, Guam grabs historic victory, Cuba, Colombia, Chinese Taipei and Japan win their games

A total of six games were played on Day 2 of the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup in Hermosillo Mexico.

Day 2 of the V WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup 2022 saw an electric walk-off win and strong offensive and pitching performances.

Mexico 1-2 Chinese Taipei

The game has been called due to bad weather. Chinese Taipei takes the rain-shortened 201 win over Mexico. 

Bottom 4th - MEX 1-2 TPE: Chinese Taipei takes the lead Mexico with a pair of runs. Hsing-Kai Wang got an RBI single, and later scored on a wild pitch.

Top 2nd - MEX 1-0 TPE: Mexico strikes first. Adrian Falcon hit an RBI single to plate Brayan Valenzuela, and the host nation is leading Chinese Taipei.

Panama 0-4 Japan

Bottom 3rd - PAN 0-4 JPN: Japan takes the lead with four runs, on a sacrifice fly by Shintaro Sakamoto and a defensive error in the outfield after a line drive by Santa Kanemoto that allowed three runs.

Czech Republic 2-18 Cuba

Top 3rd - CZE 2-10 CUB: Matyáš Novotny hits an RBI single for the second run of the game.

In the second inning, Czech Republic scored their first run of the tournament, but Cuba answered with an eight-run rally, and the game is 10-1.

Bottom 1st - CZE 0-2 CUB: Alejandro Prieto singled in the first run of the game with a single, and later scored on a wild pitch.

Colombia 6-1 France

After six complete innings, Colombia leads France 4-1. All runs were scored in the first inning.

South Africa 8-10 Guam

Top 7th - RSA 8-10 GUM: South Africa scores four in the top of the seventh, with a two-run triple by Stiaan Hennings, and an RBI single by Travis Hoffmann.

Top 6th - RSA 4-10 GUM: South Africa scored one in the fifth on a defensive error, and added two more in the sixth, capped by an RBI triple by Travis Hoffmann.

Bottom 4th - RSA 1-10 GUM: Another five-run inning for Guam, with an RBI double off the bat of Peter Concepcion, and RBI singles by Ayden Aguon and Rayshaun Parks

First inning - RSA 1-5 GUM: Imaad Hassiem scored for South Africa in the top of the first, on a double steal play; but Guam answers with a five-run rally in the bottom half of the inning, including a 2-RBI triple by Ayden Aguon and an RBI single by Ean Lezama.

Venezuela 4-5 USA

Dane Perry singled up the middle in the bottom of the seventh to bring in John Short from third, and secure for USA a walk-off win against Venezuela, 5-4

Top 6th - VEN 4-1 USA: Aaron Arroyo hits an RBI double off the wall for Venezuela, and then scores on a USA fielding error, giving his team a three-run lead.

In a classic pitching duel, Venezuela is still on top of USA 2-1 after four innings. Venezuela’s Rafael Lasorsa has only allowed three hits and a walk, with two strikeouts; while USA’s Chase Bentley has given up just 1 hit and no walks.

First inning - VEN 1-1 USA: Both teams scored in their first at bat. Venezuela's Aaron Piñero took advantage of a throwing error to score the first run of the game, while Brady Ebel tied the game with a sac fly to center field.
