V WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup - Day 4: USA tops Puerto Rico to win Group C; Venezuela, Mexico earn first wins; Panama tops France

Three of the six Super Round spots are still up for grabs heading into that final day of the Opening Round on Tuesday.

The WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup Day 4 is underway in Hermosillo, Mexico. USA and Puerto Rico collide at Hector Espino Stadium, in a key game in Group C, while Venezuela and Guam meet at the Sonora Stadium. In the afternoon, France will play Panama and host Mexico will face Czechia.

USA became today the third qualified nation for the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup Super Round after a 15-4 win over Puerto Rico at the Hector Espino Stadium in Hermosillo. USA exploded in the last inning with eight runs to secure the win, the top spot in Group C and a spot in the next round.

Venezuela earned their first win of the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup, with a 13-1 game over Guam. The South Americans scored at least a run in each of their five turns at bat. 

Czechia 0-3 Mexico

Bottom 3rd - CZE 0-3 MEX: Mexico extends the lead with a two-run single by Brayan Valenzuela to left field. Justin Canizales and Sergio Contreras score.

Bottom 1st - CZE 0-1 MEX: Mexican leadoff hitter Yustin Canizales singles, stole second and third, and then scored on a defensive error by Vit Stanek.

France 1-11 Panama

Bottom 5th - FRA 1-11 PAN: The game ends with an Iverson Allen two-run single to give Panama their second win of the tournament.

Bottom 4th - FRA 1-9 PAN: Two more for Panama. Yadier Molina scored thanks to a defensive error, while Juan Caballero drove in the ninth Panama run with a single.

Top 4th - FRA 1-7 PAN: Ben Couvreur tripled to right center, and then scored the first run of France on a wild pitch.

Bottom 2nd - FRA 0-7 PAN: Panama adds three more with RBI triples by Luis Rivera and Iverson Allen, and an RBI single off the bat of Javier Acevedo.

Bottom 1st - FRA 0-4 PAN: Panama gets the early lead in the game with four runs, including an RBI single by Juan Caballero and a run-scoring double by Jhojan Downer

USA 15-4 Puerto Rico

Top 7th - USA 15-4 PUR: USA explodes with eight runs in the top of the seventh to secure the top spot in Group C and a ticket to the Super Round.

Top 6th - USA 7-4 PUR: Grady Emerson steals home! USA grabs a three-run lead.

Bottom 5th - USA 6-4 PUR: Francis Garcia scores on a wild pitch.

Top 5th - USA 6-3 PUR: Andrew Costello scores on a squeeze play and Ethan Holliday drives in one more with a single to left field.

Bottom 3rd - USA 4-3 PUR: It’s a one-run ballgame at Hector Espino! Puerto Rico scores off a sacrifice fly by Dylan Rivera.

Bottom 2nd - USA 4-2 PUR: Puerto Rico's Enrico Carrion scores on a defensive error by shortstop US Ethan Holliday.

Top 2nd - USA 4-1 PUR: Ryan Mitchell hits a two-run single to give USA a three-run lead.

Bottom 2nd - USA 4-1 PUR: Ryan Mitchell hits an RBI double to give USA a three-run lead

Bottom 1st - USA 2-1 PUR: The US starter Carson Bolemon delivers four walks in the first inning to give up the first Puerto Rican run in the game.

Top 1st - USA 2-0 PUR: Coy James hits a leadoff homer for USA to put his team in front from the beginning. Then Ryan Mitchell scores on a sacrifice fly by Brady Murrieta.

Guam 1-11 Venezuela

Bottom 5th - GUM 1-11 VEN: A four-run rally in the bottom of the fifth gives Venezuela a run-rule victory over Guam.

Top 5th - GUM 1-7 VEN: Back to back singles by Ean Lizama and Patrick Alvarez, and consecutive walks by Evan Acosta and Kaiden Weakley give Guam their first run of the game.

Bottom 4th - GUM 0-7 VEN: Deynis Gonzalez with another RBI, a line drive single to center field. Venezuela’s first baseman is 2-for-2 with 3 RBI.

Bottom 3rd - GUM 0-6 VEN: Venezuela doubles the advantage with a three run rally. RBI doubles by Deynis Gonzalez and Manuel Bolivar, and an RBI single off the bat of Jose Chirino do the damage.

Bottom 2nd - GUM 0-3 VEN: Venezuela leads 3-0 after back to back doubles by Manuel Bolivar and Jonathan Rangel.

After one complete inning, Venezuela leads Guam 2-0. A throwing error by catcher Ayden Aguon allowed Luis Cova to score, and the a sac fly by Deynis Gonzalez produced Venezuela's second run of the game.
