WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup: USA tops Chinese Taipei 10-0 in key Super Round contest

USA moves to 3-1 and increases their chances of competing for the title of world champion in Sunday’s final. Chinese Taipei drops to 2-2.

A strong offensive display capped by a solo home run by designated hitter John Short, powered USA to a key 10-0 win over Chinese Taipei in the Super Round of the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup in Hermosillo, Mexico, on Friday.

Both teams took the diamond at Sonora Stadium with the same 2-1 record, tied for second place in the Super Round standings, knowing the relevance of this match in their hope to play the World Championship Final.

And USA scored at least a run in their all five at bats, making a statement not only for this game, but for the rest of the tournament.

Carson Bolemon was strong from the mound, pitching five innings of one-hit ball with four strikeouts. He collected his first win of the tournament.

Short’s home run was the highlight of an eight-hit offense, with seven US players hitting safely at least once.

Shao-En Jian was the losing pitcher of the game for Chinese Taipei after one inning of work. He was the first of five pitchers for the Asian squad.
