Yao-Yun Chang’s strong outing gives Chinese Taipei first Super Round win against Puerto Rico

Yao-Yun Chang didn’t allow a hit in the first four innings. He tossed five frames of one-hit ball, striking out two.

Yao-Yun Chang pitched five solid innings for Chinese Taipei, in today’s 9-0 win over Puerto Rico to open the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup Super Round in Hermosillo, Mexico. 

Ting-Hsuan Ku led the Chinese Taipei with three RBI singles in four at bats, adding two runs. He produced one in the five-run first inning, one more in the third and another in the fifth. Yan-Lun Huang contributed with a perfect 3-for-3 afternoon, scoring a pair of runs.

Chang didn’t allow a hit in the first four innings of the game, but Dylan Rivera broke up the no-hitter with an infield hit to shortstop. It was the first of only two hits for Puerto Rico, with Francis Garcia hitting a single in the bottom of the seventh.

Puerto Rican starter Dwen Navarro, who lasted 0.1 innings giving up five runs (only two earned), was the loser of the game.  

Chinese Taipei evens their Super Round record at 1-1, while Puerto Rico drops to 0-2.
