15U BWC: Venezuela cruises past Germany

Cuauhtémoc (Mexico) – One day after a shutout over the Ukraine, Venezuela also didn’t have any problems with the second European team in Group C. Playing in the afternoon in Cuauhtémoc they defeated Germany 16-0 in five innings. They scored in each of the first four frames, highlighted by an eight-run third. It was the third loss on the third day for Germany.

Nine different players crossed the plate for Venezuela. Leadoff hitter Mikey Edie scored thrice. Greifer Andrade and Luis Perdomo had three RBI apiece. Sascha Koch, Michael Kaiserauer and Oskar Matzpreiksch had the hits for Germany.

On the mound Carlos Guzman and Nelson Hernandez kept Germany in check, allowing a combined three hits and three walks in five scoreless innings. They struck out ten of the 22 batters they faced. Fabian Roitzsch was charged with the loss, issuing four hits, seven runs (5 ER) and three base on balls in two innings.
