Welcome back to the WBSC Top-10 Baseball Plays of the Year, a review of the best 10 plays in the WBSC Baseball World Cups in 2023. The No. 6 belongs to Cuban shortstop Dayanni Velasquez, who made a spectacular play against Chinese Taipei at the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup Group B in Miyoshi City, Japan.

Cuba and Chinese Taipei squared off in Game 1 of the group stage in Miyoshi City. Both teams had scored in the first inning, with the Asians taking a 2-1 lead over the Caribbean team.

In the bottom of the third, with a runner on third and no outs, Cuba's infield was playing in when Chiao-Yun Huang hit a ground ball to the left side of the infield. Velasquez made a stunning diving catch and fired to first base to retire the batter and prevent the run from scoring.

Chinese Taipei went on to win the game by a score of 9-1.
