The International Baseball Federation (IBAF) is announcing the schedule for first round of the upcoming XXV 18U Baseball World Championship in Seoul, Korea. The tournament will be played from Thursday, August 30 to Saturday, September 8.
USA Baseball trims 18U Roster to 28 Players
DURHAM, N.C.– Following Saturday night’s Prospect Classic game at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, the 18U National Team Trials roster was cut from 40 athletes down to 28.
XXV IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship with 12 Teams
The 12 national teams from the 18 and under category will be gathering in Seoul, Korea for the XXV 18U Baseball World Championship this summer. The tournament will be held in the capital city of Korea from the August 30th to September 8th.
A future Major League star enjoyed success in IBAF competition
Alex Bregman will probably have a great future as a professional baseball player. For now, he has already enjoyed great success in International Baseball. As a star of the Albuquerque Academy, Bregman has led Team USA to a couple of gold medals in IBAF sanctioned competitions: the 2011 18 and Under (he was named the MVP) and the 2010 16 and Under Continental Games of the Americas.
USA wins 18U BWC Americas Qualifier
Team USA has won the Americas Qualifier for the IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship in Seoul, Korea next summer. The squad of manager Scott Brosius scored seven runs in the first inning to defeat Canada 12-2 in the final game of the tournament in Cartagena, Colombia on Sunday. Addison Russell went 2-for-3 with a grand slam and three runs scored. Carson Kelly pitched six innings for the win.
