Former KBO utility Tae-Won Choi to manage Korea in WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup

The 53-year-old appeared in 1,284 games from 1993 to 2003 and is currently the Kyung Hee University head coach. Gye-Won Park will manage the U-18 National Team.

The Korean Baseball Softball Association (KBSA) announced that Tae-Won Choi will manage the Korean National Team at the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup.2024.

Born in 1970, Choi had an 11-year playing career in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) league. He debuted in 1993 and retired after appearing in 33 games in 2003.

Choi played a combined 1,284 games. He had a career .286 batting average and .341 on-base percentage,

After retiring as a player, he coached at the KBO level from 2005 to 2022 and has been the Kyung Hee University head coach since 2023.

Korea finished second behind Japan in the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2022.

The V WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup is scheduled from 6 to 15 September in Shiaoxing, China.
