The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) today revealed the groups and schedule for the Europe/Africa and Asia/Oceania qualification events for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020, following a live draw conducted at the WBSC headquarters in the Olympic Capital.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) will conduct live draws on Wednesday, 10 July, to determine the groups and schedule of the WBSC Softball Europe/Africa Qualifier and the WBSC Softball Asia/Oceania Qualifier, Qualification Events for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020.

Italy defeated Netherlands in the final match of the Women’s Softball European Championship 2019 by a score of 3-2 and was crowned European champion in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Softball fans from around the world can now purchase the tickets for the WBSC Softball Europe/Africa Qualifier, to be held in Utrecht, Netherlands, from 23-27 July. Fans can acquire individual daily passes for each of the five days of competition, or choose for a complete VIP experience.

Media registration for the WBSC Softball Europe/Africa Qualifier “Road to Tokyo”, taking place 23-27 July in Utrecht, Netherlands, is now available and will remain open until Thursday, 18 July.

A total of 23 nations will open the Women’s Softball European Championship on Sunday with a common goal in mind: to finish in the top 6 of the tournament and advance to the Softball Europe/Africa Qualifier “Road to Tokyo”, a qualifier event for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), under president Riccardo Fraccari, has taken major steps to ensure baseball and softball players are represented in the decision-making of the world governing body.

On June 23, 2019 the International Olympic Committee will inaugurate the Olympic House, the new headquarters of the IOC and the Olympic Movement. This day also marks the 125th Anniversary of the founding of the IOC.
